Coronation and Kingship (part 3 of 3)

This brief series will explore comparison and ironies between the Coronation of King Charles III and Jesus Christ the King.

3. The King is crowned on the ancient throne.

King Charles wears the crown for the first and last time of his life.

It is a powerful moment, that having been anointed the King is now crowned.

Where Charles is crowned in a Church among the people.

Jesus is crowned on a cross for the people.

Where Charles’ crown is encrusted with jewels and diamonds.

Jesus’ crown is brimming with thorns.

Where Charles is sat upon an ancient throne.

King Jesus is nailed to a cruel cross.

And just as the Coronation of Charles will be broadcast all over the world.

So Jesus was broadcast for all the world to see:

Pilate wrote an inscription and put it on the cross. It read: ‘Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.’ It was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek.”  (John 19:19-20).

Let us pray that the Gospel of King Jesus is seen in this Coronation.

Let us believe in faith, that as the world is drawn to the Coronation of King Charles;

So the world will be drawn to King Jesus:

Jesus said, “Now is the judgement of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out.  And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself” (John 12:31-32)
