In Love and Adoration

Having participated in two funerals in the last week, I offer this prayer that I have adapted to allow for two perspectives: the beloved one who has died and the beloved ones who are grieving.  I wanted to share this because the experiences have been so unusual given the social distancing and other attendant Coronavirus limitations, that loss and grief have been made more complex and our grief more exposed.

I offer it here for those who have lost loved ones, for whatever reason, and are grieving, whether in the UK or around the world.

The one who died

I am in the presence of the Father who created me.

I am in the presence of the Son who redeemed me.

I am in the presence of the Spirit who guides me.

In love and adoration.

The ones who remain

We rejoice in the Creator, Maker of heaven and earth.

We rejoice in the Saviour, who is of lowly birth.

We rejoice in the Spirit, giving life its worth.

In love and adoration.

We call upon the Father to strengthen and uphold us.

We call upon the Son to forgive and shield us.

We call upon the Spirit to comfort and direct us.

In love and adoration.

The one who died

I rest in the love of the glorious Father.

I rest in the love of the wonderful Saviour.

I rest in the love of the blessed Spirit.

In love and adoration.

Today and forever,

In love and adoration.

Amen
